(More customer reviews)I regret that I didn't purchase these inline skates from Amazon because I may have had more options regarding customer service and problem resolution.
With this model you get more features for the money but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." Yes, the bearings are labeled ABEC 9, but they are sealed so you can't clean/lubricate them. They are listed as being Bevo brand but I have doubts that they would make that level of bearing as non-serviceable. Maybe it's their house or generic brand.
The insoles are paper thin which provided no support so I replaced them with memory foam insoles. Again, not something you would think would be necessary with their top-of-the-line model.
I originally liked the idea that the lower strap was not velcro like most other skates. When I first used the buckle/ratchet system, I was not filled with confidence regarding its structural integrity. I also didn't like the fact that at the tightest level it didn't secure my foot or make it feel locked in. A month into using these skates, my original fears were realized when one of these buckles snapped off the plastic molding surrounding the boot. I took a picture and send it to customer service and asked how they handled product defects. I was told that they would send a new buckle and screws. I was skeptical because they are secured with a rivet. Apparently the customer is supposed to drill out the original rivet and use the supplied screws to secure the new buckle. You can do that or spend your own money to send them to their offices and they will do the recalled fix and return them. I suppose I should ask for 2 buckles and multiple screws because I know it's only a matter of time before the other one snaps. I'm not an engineer but it's apparent that this is a design flaw. It's like the proverbial 10lbs stuffed into a 5lb bag.
The staff is genuine and polite but you can tell from their website that their business model is outdated and better suited to selling 8 track tapes or shag carpet. Their online presence has no capability to allow customers to purchase extra parts like brakes. You have to mail or fax your request (they don't allow phone orders).
I was disappointed after this purchase so I tried on other brands at a retail outlet. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a K2 or Rollerblade model. Leave Roller Derby to the brawny women who race around a track smacking each other.
