(More customer reviews)I have been training to play roller derby for the past 6 months now. I started out with the basic Pro-Tec knee pads, however, about two months into using them, I took a nasty spill and they slipped and smashed into my upper tibia right below my knee cap, causing a nice bone contusion and a tiny hairline fracture. SO, needless to say, I decided it was time to up the quality of my gear, seeing as other than skates, knee pads are the most important piece of equipment you need for roller derby. I asked the veterans of the team what brand/type knee pads they preferred, and most said 187 Pro Knee pads, and the other preferred Rector Fatboy's. I ended up buying the 187 Pro's, and it was love at first fall. It felt like I was falling on fluffy clouds, AND there was no slippage. It was so nice compared to the old Pro-Tecs! In conclusion, if you play a sport on wheels (such as roller derby) who's most fell on/injured area is the knee, don't skimp on your knee pads; buy a good set like the 187 Pro's. It'll do your body good.
